Saint Joseph Parish Courtyard Project |
|
The statue of Mary will be resurfaced and relocated to the front of the corner sliding doors. Three walkways made of millstone pavers will radiate out from Mary toward the street, the church front door, and the northeast corner of the yard. Benches of pink granite from Jonesborro Maine will be placed along the walkways and near Mary allowing people to sit and meditate in the newly landscaped grounds. The main area will remain open and be even larger for use in outdoor services and play.
A unique feature of the renovation is the opportunity for parishioners to create a lasting reminder of their membership in the Saint Joseph's Parish by sponsoring inscribed pavers and benches. We invite all families to inscribe pavers with names or statements which would become a permanent part of the courtyard. Parishioners or groups of parishioners can also sponsor granite benches for the same purpose. The cost of the pavers and benches will in turn help pay for the broader renovation.
Together we can build a beautiful courtyard that honors Mary, memorializes our Parishioners, and serves our Parish needs for years to come.
Order forms for pavers and benches can be obtained at the Saint Joseph's Parish Office (617-484-0279), on the St Joseph Parish website, or by contacting Kevin Ryan at kryan62205@gmail.com. Questions about the project can be directed to Kevin Ryan or Father Al Faretra.
